Careers: Rising demand for specialists in “alternative funds” has convinced a recruitment firm’s European chief to relocate to the Grand Duchy.

The European head of a specialist recruitment firm has relocated from London to Luxembourg. Rana Hein-Hartmann, co-founder and EMEA director of Funds Partnership, which focuses on the asset management industry, has decamped to the Grand Duchy after eight years in the British capital.

Last month Hein-Hartmann started working out of the firm’s existing rue Goethe offices, “where she will be further establishing the business with a number of local hires”, according to an announcement on the organisation’s website. The firm said it also plans to add to headcount at its London location.

The company places staff for all types of positions within the investment fund industry, from sales and operational to legal and risk management roles. The move to Luxembourg follows “ever increasing demand on Funds Partnership to fill specialist roles” in both the Grand Duchy and UK, “particularly resulting from AIFMD and the growth in the private equity sector, one of the firm’s main areas of specialisation”, its announcement stated.

Hein-Hartmann “went to University in Leeds before she relocated to London”, a representative of the firm told Delano on Monday. She then “was responsible for building out the European desk of a major UK search and selection business”, according to her Funds Partnership bio.

Hein-Hartmann co-founded Funds Partnership with Ayyaz Ahmad, who is based in the company’s Singapore office. The firm has about a dozen staff in Europe, and also has locations in Frankfurt and Hong Kong.
